The Website Project

The Boro is the digital face of downtown Peterborough, celebrating its unique blend of local business, community spirit, and urban charm. 

We worked closely with the Peterborough DBIA to expand The Boro’s online presence into a full-service hub that would support discovery, encourage foot traffic, and strengthen the identity of the downtown core.

Our goal was to help create a site that invited all of Peterborough to explore and engage with the rich community downtown.

The Approach:

Clear, User-Friendly Structure

The new site is organized around discovering the downtown through Shopping, Eating, Doing, including Events, Tours, and ways to Plan Your Trip

Thoughtful Visual Design

The visual style is vibrant but grounded, designed to echo the culture of downtown.

  • Color palette and typography are warm, on brand, accessible, and people-minded
  • Imagery is central: real people, real spaces, and seasonal highlights
  • Layouts that contemporary without feeling corporate

Dynamic Content & Seasonal Highlights

We built flexible sections for seasonal campaigns and events, letting the DBIA team spotlight what’s happening downtown, when it’s happening. From yoga in the park to downtown-wide food festivals, it’s all easy to feature and easy to find.

Gift Card & Business Integration

The Boro Gift Card is now a featured element, embedded throughout the site in all relevant places and supported by an easy-to-use shopping map and directory. Business listings are filterable by category, helping visitors shop with intention while giving the opportunity to explore.

Website Goals:

  • Present local shopping, dining, and events in a fresh, engaging way
  • Serve both residents and out-of-town visitors with trip planning tools and themed experiences
  • Showcase seasonal initiatives like festivals, tours, and the Boro Gift Card
  • Be easy to update, flexible to grow, and visually reflective of the community’s energy
